 Q 2.

What are the different types of ePortfolios ?

The three types of ePortfolio are Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.
The Basic is the simplest eportfolio. You just collect your work (written, image, audio files) and then you upload it to an eportfolio template.
The Intermediate allows students to download a template from the informational site. The students then modify the template by using Netscape composer and/or Dreamweaver. After the modification, they will zip the folder and upload the zipped folder into "MY Collection" Area and the "Portfolio" Area.
The Advanced allows students to create their own Templates in programs like Dreamweaver or Frontpage

Q 7. What types of storage devices should I use to back-up copies of my ePortfolio?

Your ePortfolio should fit onto a 1.44 MB floppy to begin with.

Floppy
This is the most common media storage device and can be used in any computer. But, if a floppy is formatted for a MAC, it cannot be used in a PC. As you add files, especially graphics, your ePortfolio may out grow the floppy and need to be stored on other media such as:

Zip 250
If you save your Web to a Zip 250 disk, you will need to have a Zip 250 drive at home in order to open your Zip disk. This has 250 MB of space.
If your Zip disk is formatted for a PC, then it can be shared between MAC and PC computers.

Zip 100
If you save your Web to a Zip 100 disk, you can open and use the disk in either a Zip 250 or Zip 100 drive. This has 100 MB of space. If your Zip disk is formatted for a PC, then it can be shared between MAC and PC computers.

CD-R
If you save your work to a recordable CD-ROM you should be able to open your files on any computer with a CD-ROM drive. This has 650 MB of space.
You will not be able to record over the files you have already saved to your CD-R disk.

CD-RW
If you save your work to a rewriteable CD-ROM you can only use those files on a CD-RW drive. It will not work in most common CD-ROM drives. You can save over, delete, and edit files directly from a CD-RW. An unformatted CD-RW requires formatting before you can use it. A CD-RW will be usable within 5-10 minutes, but the full formatting process can take up to 1-2 hours. This has 650 MB of space.
