Classes & Projects

New Media Technology is my major. In order to see all the credits required to
complete my degree please Click here>> My E-Portfolio itself is a good example of the quality of my work; however, some of the projects that I've done are posted on both sides of my ePortfolio as well as listed in this page. You can take a look at them just by clicking on each of the the red links above the description of my classes.

MULTIMEDIA WORK :_

Multimedia Design I - CIS161 -
In this course I was introduced to development tools to aid in the creation of
multimedia applications. By completion of this course I learned to use Dreamweaver and Fireworks MX 2004, which are tools commonly, used for the development of web pages. Here I include an example of a web page that I did using both tools.
Multimedia Design II - CIS162 -
This course gave me the opportunity to further develop my skills using advanced
features of the development environments employed in Web-design I. By completion of this course I learned to efficiently use flash MX 2004, which is a tool commonly used for applying animation and special effects in web design. Here I have an example of my final project for this class.
Multimedia Design III - CIS163 -
This course taught me to develop my skills in multimedia and streaming video tools
including: video capture, video editing, and video compression for streaming media. By completion of this class I learned to use Avid Express. Which is a video editing tool commonly used by professional moviemakers. Here I have an example of an advertisement that I did promoting the Bronx Zoo.
Introduction to E-Business & Introduction to Computers
By taking e-business I gained a basic understanding of the tools, skills, business
concepts, strategic opportunities, and social issues that surround the emergence of electronic commerce on the Internet. On the other hand, my introduction to computers course introduced me to the uses of computers in business. Because I was assigned to develop an e-business In order to practice all what learned throughout my e-business class, and at the same time I was assigned to develop a web site of any subject I wanted for my introduction to computer class, I decided to do a webpage for an e-business and demonstrate it for both of my classes. I'd like to mention that when I developed this webpage (my first webpage) I did not know much about web development so I had used the most basic tools to develop it. I used front page.

PROGRAMMING WORK:_

Introduction to Visual Programming – Using Visual Basic -
By taking this course I was introduced to Windows and GUI concepts and
applications through objects and programming. I learned to develop real-world Windows applications using Visual Basic as well as basic programming concepts such as arithmetic operations, logical operations and interactive structures. Here I include an example of one of the projects that I developed for this class.
Data Base Concepts and Programming - Using Oracle -
This course taught me the concepts of data collection, organization and retrieval.
I learned to understand data structures and the analysis of file organization techniques as well as the principles of data base design, selection and management. As a result of the extensive laboratory hours that I had to dedicate for this class, I gained experience with programming using Oracle; I came out with a project that linked several different tables holding all the information of a company. By the way, this was one of the classes that I also enjoyed the most.

WRITTING WORK:_

ESR 099
This was the first English Class that I took at LaGuardia Community College.
It helped me to practice my reading, writing, listening and speaking using college-level materials; it helped me to increase my vocabulary and study skills.
Introduction to Sociology Contemporary Society - SSS 100 -
  Since I came to LaGuardia community college, I have taken several classes;

however, this particular class was my favorite one. It was thought by John Hyland , who I think is a great professor. In this course I learned to understand the social factors of human life; I learned about the study of social interaction, social processes, and social institutions in an historical context and also learned to examine the human condition with particular reference to work, to culture, to personality, to ethnic, class and gender relations, as well as economic and political institutions.

Composition I: An Introduction to Expository Writing - ENG101 -
In this course I learned to focus on the process of writing clear, correct and effective

expository essays in response to materials drawn from culturally diverse sources.

Composition II: Writing Through Literature - ENG102 -
In This course I learned to reinforce and extend my abilities to write correct,

well-organized essays using poetry and at least one other literary genre like fiction & drama.

Information Strategies -LRC102
In this course I learned the nature and uses of information sources (i.e., print,
non-print and computerized) for study, problem-solving, and research. In order to complete the course I had to identify topics, pose research questions, plan research strategies, assess materials, use the LaGuardia Library, and identify other libraries for collecting data and producing critical bibliographies. I learned so much from this class; before I took it, I did not even know what citation meant; however, after taking this course, I was able to develop research papers and other written work that requested any type of research with any problem at all.

OTHER WORK :_

Introduction to Design
In this course I learned about the fundamentals of design through an investigation
of visual elements such as line, shape and composition. Here I post an example of the kind of work that I was assigned to develop for this class.

My STM - Student Technology Mentor - Experience
By having the opportunity to be an STM I've learned to use several applications as

well as gained so many and important skills that I know will help me throughout my life. In the training, I'm being taught many applications from basic MS office tools to web design tools. I learned about the CSS language ....more>>
