Course Description: This course presents occupational therapy theory base and process skills for evaluation and treatment of patients with psychosocial dysfunction and/or disorders associated with aging. Topics include: data collection, problem solving, treatment planning and implementation, reassessment, family involvement, legal, ethical, and regulatory issues. The importance of the individual in planning treatment is emphasized, with special attention to personal history and preferences, culture, and environment.

 REFLECTION:

This class involved theories and intervention planning and implementation with psychosocial dysfunction and aging. Stigma associated with aging and mentally disabled individuals were also disscused. Thus, alleviating illogical and unfounded assumptions. Occupational Therapy uses a holistic approach when treating an individual. Therefore, case studies are given not only to gather data but also to study the impact of ones family and social background, work history and other factors that affect ones health (mental, physical and emotional).
