Course Description: This course introduces the major categories of mental illness, their symptoms, causes and treatment. Among the mental disorders covered are personality, anxiety, schizophrenic, and affective disorders. Theoretical models for understanding mental disorders are discussed.
This class focuses on various mental disorders. Case studies were given and video tapes were shown to reinforce knowledge of symptoms and treatment of various psychological dysfunction. Behaviors were also an important aspect in abnormal psychology that the class delved into.
