for Educational Goals
Everyone in life should have a goal, big or small
it doesn't make a difference. As for me I have several educational
goals. In the next 6-8 years I hope to see myself as a certified public
accountant working for a large corporation. I hope to become a well
mannered, educated and successful business woman.
I’d like to develop skills in my communication
area. To become successful I feel it is mandatory. A person needs
to know how to speak out in front of people, whether it’s
in meetings or presentations. If a person doesn’t know how
to speak well sometimes people will assume that you are ignorant.
I would also like to develop skills in the accounting
area. This is one of the most important skills in my opinion because
if I don’t know anything about accounting how would I expect
to have a career in accounting at all?
An educated person should also be educated in what
is going on around them. I would like to know more about how to
use stocks and bonds, investing and the news related to companies
issuing stocks and bonds.
The final skill that I would like to expand upon
is my interpersonal skills. A person can be as educated as they
want but if you are rude and snobbish it makes society look down
upon you. Having good interpersonal skills are also useful when
working in groups or meeting new people.
In order to gain each of these skills there are several things I
must do. To gain accounting skills I must continue attending school
and pass all of my classes. I need to study and put a lot of effort
into what I do. To gain communication skills I should probably acquaint
myself with people who speak very professionally and act in a professional
demeanor. To know what is going on in the financial world I should
watch news, listen to the radio and discuss what is going on with
my fellow business colleagues. Finally, interpersonal skills, I
should start working on more assignments in teams to improve what
skills I already have in this area.
Right now I am majoring in Business Administration. What motivated
me to choose this major was because it seemed very professional,
it makes me feel good about myself and it is a broad major where
I can choose from a variety of careers. I am going on an internship
with Pfizer starting Fall session II, I hope to learn more about
the corporate culture and how large corporations work. I would also
like to gain work experience so when I apply for an actual job I
would have some background
Attending LaGuardia Community College has brought me closer to achieving
my educational goals. I have gained several of the skills I hoped
to achieve.
