My Autobiography

My name is Dzhantam Warren and I am an in-born artist and aspiring 3D animator.  I am 26 years old and was born on January 30 in Bronx, NY.  I currently live in Brooklyn where I have resided for the last seven years.  But I traveled a lot in the years before that.  When I was younger, I lived in places as close as Jersey City to and as far asAtlanta, Georgia.  It was tough but I am grateful in a way because it gave me a broader spectrum of the world which I use today to influence my creative works.

My cultural heritage is African American, but I am a mix of Cherokee Indian, Irish, African American, and Chinese, as far as I can trace my background.  I, unlike most people, embrace all aspects of my cultural make-up because those intricacies are great fuel for story writing and art, which I am always engaged in.  As far as I could remember, I could always express artistically what I saw or imagined on paper.  I am positive that it was a gift from my father who is also a good artist in his spare time.  He has always encouraged and nurtured my abilities thus making me the seasoned artist that I am today.

It may sound funny but I actually went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, where I majored in art.  School has always been a challenge for me, because I always strive for perfection, but as we all know that is unattainable.  No matter how close I get to the goal I always fall short of my personal expectations, which are always 100%.  Anything else to me is unacceptable.  Therefore my returning to school at LaGuardia Community College was a little nerve racking, because I knew that the course material would come at me at an ultra fast pace and I was unsure if I could meet my expectations, but so far I am.

My major at LaGuardia College is New Media Technology.  I chose this because computers seemed like the next logical step for me.  As an artist, I always felt that when I drew or painted something it was always lacking substance or reality.  But by incorporating technology into my art, such as 3D animation and vector graphic programs, I have found a bridge across the void that existed, for me, in my art.  Hopefully, LaGuardia can help me build upon the skills that I have already learned and take me to new avenues of discovery that will shuttle my work towards the vanguard of computer art.

Once I graduate from LaGuardia College, with my associate degree, I am going to transfer to a four-year college, most likely New York University or the New York Institute of Technology.  But any school with a course in computer graphics and technology will suffice.  Once I earn my bachelor degree, I will also go for my Master degree in 3D animation, which will hopefully solidify my path towards becoming a 3D design master.

My major goals are to become a well rounded 3D animator, direct my own 3D animated motion pictures, and work for companies like Luca Films Industrial Light and Magic which brought us feature films like "Star Wars" or maybe Pixar Animation Studios who brought us lovable 3D feature films like "Toy Story. But I am also taking into account other skills that I can use to fall back on if I do not reach my goal.  Skills such as web design, computer aided design/ computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM), and video & photography.  Ultimately though, my final aspiration, in life, is to one day open my own graphic and 3D design company.  Hopefully I can acquire the skills that I will need to make my dreams and ambitions a reality.  Look for my name in the credits of future 3D films.
