Every major city has its official city. This is the site of New York City. It is specially separated on 5 basic categories (residents, business, visitor, government, Office of the Mayor). Everything that is related somehow to NYC you will find here. Most of all I looked at the 2007 Mayor's Management Report (MMR) which is a public report of the departments that affect the life of NYC residents.


Manhattan Chamber of Commerce
The Manhattan Camber of Commerce was founded in 1920. Its "mission is to create a positive business environment to foster job development and promote business growth…" 


US Small Business Administration
This web site contains useful information for those who own a small business or who are just thinking about opening one.  SBA provides loans, grants, education programs to help small businesses in their development. I used this site for my research about recent trends in small businesses.
Information Technology Association of America
This is the web site of the Information Technology Association of America. They provide programs for business development, peer to peer networking programs and a wide variety of public policy programs. I looked at the latest publications, press releases and newsletters related to the NIT industry.

International Association  for Computer Information Systems
The International Association for Computer Information Systems is a nonprofit organization that provides an opportunity for people all over the world to share research, teaching , and technical information through the conferences and annual publication - Issues in Information Systems, and quarterly publication - The Journal of Computer Information Systems. This web site is an excellent source for a research project an any topic concerning Computer Information Systems.

Here you can browse the catalogs of Branch and Research libraries, find helpful information on how to conduct a research, get access to digital library with thousands of electronic materials (pictures, publications) and find out about free classes and workshops.

Wikipedia
This is the free online encyclopedia published in almost all languages in the world. It contains millions of articles on thousands of topics. It is a great electronic resource to start any research with. However, the major disadvantage is that it is written by volunteers; therefore, information cannot be fully trusted.

Britannica Online
This web site is an electronic version of the famous Encyclopedia Britannica. In comparison with Wikipedia, Britannica is one of  the world's most trusted sources of information.  Here you can find information on any topic from the ancient times until now. This site is basically the start of any of my research projects, I frequently check up on definitions of unknown words and terms.

Phi Theta Kappa
This is the official web site of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the two year college.
As a member of this society, trough the web site I can access the information about special scholarships and read publications and newsletters on topics related to education and career development.

I used this site while working on my career field research project. It helped to get a full idea about what is going on the job market and what I have to do to prepare myself for the professional world.

This is a good web resource for those who are looking for a job. Use it for learning how to write a resume and post it online, looking through the job postings, finding the information about upcoming career fairs, getting career advice.

This is the web  site that helps to connect employees with their potential employers. Employees by signing in can view thousands of available job positions, track the results of their research, upload resume. "CareerBuilder.com is the largest recruitment and career advancement source for employers, recruiters and job seekers." I personally used this site to find out the job requirements for the entry level positions in the sphere of Information Technology.
