"It is a
paradoxical but profoundly true and important principle of life that
the most likely way to reach a goal is to be aiming not at that goal
itself but at some more ambitious goal beyond it."- Arnold Toynbee.
At a certain point of our lives we all realize what’s important in our
life. It didn’t take a lot for me to realize the value of education.
Education helps us to rise above our expectations. I couldn’t
agree more with Elmer G. Letterman’s quote, “Education is learning what
you didn’t even know you didn’t know." Neither age nor
limitations is applicable when it comes to education. Anyone who
thrives for knowledge can start his journey to educate himself and
bring the best out of him. Goal is utterly important as education
because it keeps us on track and catalyzes our action to achieve
success.
My short term goals were to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above and graduate LaGuardia with honors and gain my Associate degree by Fall 2007. I have successfully achieved these goals. Now I can tell there is nothing more rewarding than to reach our goal. I remember the day when I first came to LaGuardia and was overwhelmed to see all the credits that I was going to have to take. At some point, it seemed impossible since I felt it is never going to end. From my experience, I realized in our life we will have ups and downs but we shouldn’t give up and step back from our goal. I tend to believe if we truly set our mind to something, sooner or later we will get it. All we need is to have commitment and patience to reach our goal. I have many long term goals. At this point it would be quite impossible to list all those down. After graduating from LaGuardia Community College, I would transfer to Hunter or Queens College to pursue my Bachelor's degree in Teachers Education. By the end of 2009, I will have my Bachelors degree. I will definitely go for a Master’s degree after completing my Bachelor’s degree. I have the intention to work as a teacher and pursue my Master’s degree at the same time. I will try my best to improve my spoken and written English and my technological skills. I will also do some volunteer work which will help me in many ways to prepare for my future career related goals. By doing some volunteer work I will come to know the work atmosphere of my future career which is very important to me. I will also find out the difficulties of my future career that I will have to deal with on a day- to- day basis. I will gain enough knowledge about how to handle different situations. I will definitely overcome my fear of public speaking. Overall, I will have an impression if that is the kind of job I am longing for. After gaining some knowledge about the workplace, I would be able to fully prepare myself for my future career which is also going to boost my self-esteem. |
