My name is Shin Woo Kim. I am a student in LaGuardia Community College and I’m a Fine Arts major. This year is the last year before graduation and I’ve earned 40 credits so far. I like to paint and to make things. I have many of my own works of art. I’d like to work as an assistant to set designers.

           I have great opportunities to experience working as the assistant to set designers in the theater. I have worked in the show is called ‘Popera’ which is mixed opera and musical as the assistant to the set designer for six months. The name of the show was ‘Rain’. It was about the love story with American soldier and Korean nurse in the Korean War. I helped to make the set and arrange the set for the show. It was really essential experience that helped me to decide my career.

          I’d also worked as a reporter at the ‘Korean Radio Station’ in NY. It was very exiting experience. I trained in vocal and pronunciation for one week. My part was introducing interesting performances in NY and giving people information about galleries, museums, and special events in NY. I improved my vocal and speech skills from this job. This experience gave me much courage and made me brave.

        In addition, I’ve worked in the jewelry store in Manhattan. The store’s name is “YOU & I”. This company is very well-known jewelry company both in NY and worldwide. I’ve been working there for one and half year. I’m working as a sales person and also as a jewelry designer. I design jewelry and also make jewelry by myself. This job gives me a lot of reflection of design and improves my design skill.

       I think I am a very active person. My former director of the Popera team told me I am a very responsible person and I won’t give up with any hard working. Also my former boss at the jewelry company told me that I am a strong mind person so that I won’t be confused on what I want and what I decide.
