Reflection:

Professor Pinder led the class on Career and Professional Development.  This class was added to my schedule by my advisor and I looked at it as “just another elective.” I was completely mistaken! Professor Pinder forced me to take a “second” and a “third” look at my career goals.  We participated in self assessments, personality assessments, and career assessments just to name a few.  These assessments dug very deep into my psyche and helped me objectively evaluate if I am appropriate for my career goal!

We also focused on internships in order to have experience on our chosen field of our choosing.  I also discovered the salary earned by a cardiovascular surgeon, and the future outlook in the job market for this position.  I enjoyed this class, especially because as I discovered more information about the career I am seeking, I was reassured of my goals.
