Hi!
everyone, my name is Ying
Chow. I live in Forest Hills, Queens.
I am a
Mental Health major student in LaGuardia. I’m from Hong Kong and I've
been in New York
for 7 years. I
love the diversity in New
York.
I can learn a lot from others who are very different from me. My goals
for my
future are finishing my master’s degree in Psychology and hopefully
have a
chance to continue my Ph.D. in Psychology. I am not currently
employed
but I’m selling women’s clothing and jewelry. And I am an intern with
the CUNY
CATCH program. I also do community service as an ESL teacher to new
immigrants
with the “Father’s heart” organization. I have been volunteering as a
tutor for
children or immigrants in different places. Sometimes, I help in a soup
kitchen
program to feed homeless people. I hope in the future my schedule would
allow
me to enroll in some mentoring or caring, counseling program, which is
what I
like to do the most. I want to give back to the community and I know
how bad it
feels when people desperately need help. I also want to gain knowledge
and
experience from helping others by learning to deal with certain people
and
certain situations.

I like to do a lot of different
things. I like reading (books relate to Psychology, spiritual, better
relationship, communication, philosophy, Oprah Winfrey, human
service…). I also
like to go to movies, go to church, beach, dance, sing, participate in
sports,
and walking around in city to explore more different cultures and
things I have
never seen before. Of course, I like to get together with my friends
and see
how they are doing.
LaGuardia is a place which
helps you reach your goals and provides lots of different services or
needs to
nurture you to become what you want to be. The professors and
schoolmates are
kind and friendly, although they are all different from me. My
ePortfolios are
open to everyone. In here you could find everything that’s about me. I
want
visitors to understand me more after they visits my ePortfolios and
feel my
passion, genuineness, and energy flow in my writing.
